Perinatal Depression and  Anxiety (PNDA)

1 in 5 women in Australia is diagnosed with PNDA.

The perinatal period is from conception up to three years post-partum.

Parenting today is the toughest gig yet!

Why? Because of -Judgement!

  • Mothers are feeling more judged than ever before resulting in increased levels of self-doubt

  • Mothers are judging themselves constantly as “not good enough” mothers

  • Social comparisons on social media, the internet, and support groups increase negative views of self

  • Lack of self-care and decreased self-worth are all associated with the unrealistic expectations of Motherhood.

1 in 10 men in Australia is diagnosed with PNDA.

Fathers struggle too!

Expecting and new Dads with PNDA experience different symptoms however, common symptoms can be;

  • Fear of looking after your baby

  • not wanting to communicate with your partner, family, or friends.

  • feeling isolated

  • using alcohol ad or other drugs to "escape" or cope

  • suicidal thoughts

Through regular therapy, early intervention, education, and support I hope to reduce the statistics in Australia- to ensure that both Men and Women in the perinatal stage are feeling heard and are connected with other parents in our communities. I hope to reduce the amount of judgment and unrealistic expectations that are put upon new parents by reminding parents to stay grounded. I am hopeful that we can create a stronger and more supportive community for parents.

Grief and Loss

Grief is a natural response to loss. It may be the loss of a pregnancy, loved one, pet, job, or relationship.

The more significant the loss the more intense the grief is likely to be.

Grief has no set pattern and everyone experiences grief differently. You may grieve for weeks and months while others describe their grief as lasting for years.

Grief takes time to work through, it can be challenging and overwhelming but in time it does get easier.

If this sounds like something you can relate I am here to support you through these tough times.
